Printing at the CIMC
Color and black prints can be made on a number of high-quality printers in the CIMC. Any of the computers in the reference area can print to the Hewlett-Packard LaserJet 4100N located near the reference desk. Computers in the lab area can print to the Hewlett-Packard Color LaserJet 8550N, LaserJet 8150N, and DesignJet 800 printers located behind the lab service desk. The LaserJets are 600-dpi laser printers and the DesignJet is a 600-dpi ink-jet plotter.
The reference computers print to the reference laser printer by default, so there is no need to choose the printer. Computers in the lab area print to the laser printer by default; its name is "Black_&_White". If you want, print jobs can be sent to the other printers by choosing their names. The color laser printer is named "Color", and the plotter is "Plotter". After you send the print job, it waits in a queue. At the reference printer, this is a self-serve queue, and you can release your own print jobs. The queues for the lab printers are managed by the staff. Tell them the name of your print job (i.e., file) and the printer to which the job was sent, and the staff member will release the print job.
Campus debit cards are required to pay for print outs, and a debit card dispenser near the reference area provides new cards and adds to existing cards.The price of print outs is listed in the table below.
Please read our plotter policy prior to using this printer. Its special qualities and relatively higher cost of printing argue for caution when using it.
