Software Library
Overview
The software library is a collection of software available to all members of the School of Education (SoE). The software library incorporates a networked service (KeyServer) that ensures we honor our license agreements. Programs can be distributed widely with a special key, and the combination permits only the licensed number of programs to be running at any one time (more...).
Benefits
By pooling our software purchases, more people can use a wider selection of programs. This is particularly the case for specialized graphics and statistics programs whose purchase may have been difficult to justify. Records of actual program use will help guide future purchases. We can buy the necessary number of program licenses and free resources for other needs.

An Alternative Software Source
The School of Education is also a member of the Social Science Computing Cooperative (SSCC). Membership provides SoE faculty, staff, and graduate students expanded access to research software and statistical consulting services. Software titles include statistical programs like HLM, LISREL, MPlus, R, SAS, SPSS, Stata, and WinBUGS and the research programs ATLAS and NVivo. Additional programs include Adobe Acrobat, Adobe Dreamweaver, AmeliaView, DBMS Copy, EndNote, EpiData, Mathematica, MathType, MLwiN, ProCite, SmartDraw, Microsoft Office, and WordPerfect Office. To learn more about the SSCC membership, browse the SSCC welcome page or read the information posted by SoE technical staff about the SSCC. A limitation is that the membership covers research not instruction, and thus the software focuses on research applications. Creative applications like animation, graphics, and video will continue to be supported by the Software Library as will research applications taught in labs.
