June Displays Feather Physical Activity
Since June 21st signals the arrival of a new season, one of our displays this month will also focus on new arrivals by showcasing a variety of professional and PreK-12 items that have been added to the CIMC collection this month.
With the arrival of summer signaling that fun time of year when physical activity for kids is in full swing, another display will feature a variety of items from the CIMC collection that illustrate how physical activities can promote learning for children and young adults.
In line with this focus on education through physical activity, what better School of Education department to feature this month than the Department of Kinesiology? Originating from the Greek word knesi(s) meaning movement, kinesiology is the study of the anatomy, physiology and mechanics of movement. The UW-Madison Department of Kinesiology exists to research, teach and apply knowledge related to movement, exercise and human occupation with the ultimate goal of enhancing human health, productivity, and quality of life. This display will feature CIMC collection items of interest to current and future educations seeking to increase their knowledge of how movement and exercise have the potential to dramatically impact human health and life quality.
CIMC staff look forward to your upcoming June visits and we hope you enjoy a great summer!
